Seeking info/connections to my GGrandparents from County Galway. Michael Cullen , born about 1801 married Mary Jennings, born about 1806. Their Children were: Thomas Cullen, born about 1834 in Galway and married Mary Molloy of Co Mayo, Mary Cullen , born about 1835 in Galway, Martin Cullen, born about 1845 in Galway, died in Boston, Mass, USA in 1906, was married to Margaret Walsh ( Welsh) and later widowed, re-married to Catherine Welby in Boston. Mary Cullen may have married a man named White. Thomas and family moved to Brooklyn, New York and then to Mineola, New York.

It appears that the whole family moved to Sheffield, Yorkshire, England to work about 1850s. They appear there on the English Census Reports. Also, some info is available from the Sheffield Indexers. Will share my extensive notes with those that feel they have a connection.

I'm looking for info on my line of Cullens from Galway. Michael Cullen b. about 1801 married Mary Jennings b. about 1806. They had 4 children; Mary b. about 1833 in Galway, Thomas b. about 1834 in Galway, Martin F. b. 1837 in Galway, and Michael Joseph b. Nov 15, 1847 in Galway. The family next shows up in the 1861 England Census in Sheffield, England. At this point, Thomas has married Mary Molloy of Cty Mayo. Their first child was b. in Mayo in 1857.

Most of these children moved to Brooklyn , New York. Martin moved to Boston, Mass and died there in 1906. His 1st wife was Margaret Walsh b. in Galway about 1842 she died in Boston at age 37. Michael Joseph Cullen ( my great grandfather ) settled in Branford, Connecticut and died in New Haven, Connecticut in 1915.

I have just found that my great-grandmother, Margaret McCreedy, was born in Fairhill, Galway.
Her father, John McCreedy, was a coastguard. Her mother was CATHERINE CULLEN. Their first child was born in 1849, so probably they were married in 1847 or 1848.
I'd be very glad if anyone can tell me where Catherine came from and how they might have met!

Am researching the Cullen families of Tynagh Parish, Co. Galway. Have the complete Cullen entires from the records of St. Laurence's Catholic Church in Tynagh. Will be happy to look in my records for your Galway Cullens, and to share any info that I have. As far as I can tell, all of these Cullens descend from one couple, Charles and Winifred Cullen. These Cullens were in Tynagh as early as 1806, and likely much earlier.

This couple had 12 children, and I have quite a bit of descendancy on the lines of Patrick and Denis, both born in the 1790's time period. If you think you might be connected, please get in touch.

The only thing I know about my line of Cullens,is that Mary Cullen was born in Ireland about 1834 and in the 1880 cenus of NYC she was married the John White born in Ireland about 1830. I'm going on the assumtion that John was born in Co.Galway.I found a John White being Christened there in 1830 (I don't have the exact date and place with me), and judging by the traditional naming pattern he maybe the one I have in Brooklyn.I don't have a paper trail to connect the two. I don't have any idea where in Ireland Mary came from,or if they were married in Ireland or NY.I can guess that Marys parents were Charles and Lucy.
